Fall is here! While I do like this time of year, it is not my favorite season.

I know! I know! Everyone loves Fall with the cooler weather and the pumpkin spice, not me!

I am not a pumpkin spice and sweaters girl. But I do enjoy the cooler weather for sure.

When the end of summer comes, I start to get a little blue. My mood changes because I know winter is around the corner with freezing weather (not my favorite) and the shorter days, ugh, my seasonal depression is setting in.

Therefore, I make it a big to do to have a lot of fun in fall and get myself in a better mood and just try my best to embrace this season.

Pin here!

If you also suffer from seasonal depression read my post 8 ways to cope with the end of summer blues here.

Regardless, the fall season is approaching and so let us celebrate this new season with the beautiful colors of fall. Here are 5 fall plants I know you will love.

  • Celosia

  • Thanksgiving Cactus

  • Mums

  • Prince of Orange

  • Marigolds

Celosia

These plants are so joyful, and scream fall vibes. I love the intense fall colors and the fluffy tail like foliage. These plants will bloom in summer and well into fall. They are perennials in zones 10 and 11 and annuals everywhere else.

Celosias are the perfect plant to add to your garden or landscaping. Also, they will add a pop of color to your fall planters. Such a fun plant. I absolutely love their intense colors, and their texture is so satisfying.

Commonly known as cockscomb or wool flower, Celosias have long lasting blooms and are used in flower arrangements and planters. Celosias are edible too! They have a mild spinach like flavor and add a burst of color to salads.

Thanksgiving Cactus

This time of year, it is time to zero in my focus to my Thanksgiving cacti plants. From early fall to late November, it is time for blooms to arrive on these cacti.

I have a variety of colors now. I bought them as cuttings and this year they should start blooming for me, so I cannot wait to see color blooms.

Thanksgiving cactus can live up to 30 years and are easily propagated and make easy to care for house plants. That is why these plants are often shared with family and friends and may be passed down for several generations.

Mums

The iconic fall plants. Chrysanthemums aka Mums are a great air purifying plant to keep in pots in your home, they also make beautiful fall planters with all their fall colors.

These plants can be grown as annuals in your garden or landscaping.  Such a versatile plant. Commonly seen in front porch planters in fall, these plants wear the crown this time of year.

Prince of Orange

Prince of Orange is a species of Philodendron. I love growing Philodendrons. They come in so many varieties and are relatively easy to care for. I feel like since this variety has orange leaves, fall is this plants time to shine.

Prince of Orange is often used as an ornamental house plant due to its color changing leaves. It is also an air purifying plant making it a great addition to any room in your home.

Marigolds

You may not think of a marigold as a potted plant. Marigolds are most seen as companion plants in the garden. However, Marigolds can be grown relatively easily in pots.

Marigolds are very versatile they are used to repel pests. They also attract pollinators and are edible. Marigolds have medicinal properties as well. Because of their array of fall colored blooms, Marigolds defiantly make a great fall plant.

These are my fall favorites, which plants do you think of for fall?
